It's Party Time!

I've been busy designing my son's 4th birthday party invitations today.
I'm pretty happy with the result, just wish I could have letterpress printed them,
but somehow I don't think 4 year olds would have appreciated them...
Oh well, I might just have to wait for the 18th or 21st.

Have a wonderful weekend :)

Magpie Press

These letterpress prints have been around for a little while now, but I thought they deserved a mention here at The Little Paper House Press blog as they are beautifully printed, wonderfully illustrated and to my eyes so very inspiring.

Magpie Press based in Auckland New Zealand printed the cards below for the very talented Bec Wheeler.

How You Began (If You Where A Mountain) is a series of 5 cards (115mm x 75mm), with envelope, and they illustrate a love story between a hill and a mountain.  Bec Wheeler says that she gets a lot of the inspiration for her art work from the textures and patterns that surround her natural environment in New Zealand, making letterpress, with its tactile nature, the perfect printing solution for these cards!

Magpie Press don't disclose the paper stock, type of plates or inks used, but who cares!
They are beautiful, and go a long way in spreading the letterpress love around :)

Anamiro Greeting Cards

I think bookstores have such a great selection of greeting cards.
In fact most of the cards I buy are from bookstores.

Yesterday I purchased this card from Berkelouw.

Parachute gift card by Anamiro.

It's not a letterpress card; it looks screen printed, and is by the Aussie duo Anamiro.
They have had a lot of press including Paper Runway, Frankie and a bunch of blogs, dating as far back as 2008! Sometimes I think I must be living under a rock!

This particular range of cards are like little pieces of art!  (See the whole range here.)

Which made me wonder....
I wonder if Anamiro would be interested in working with us in the future to design a one-off letterpress greeting card... Its an idea I have had rolling about in my head for a while; Collaborate with 4 designers/illustrators per year - They design, I letterpress print the card. At the end of the year we collate the art work and produce a calendar showcasing these little works of art and exposing the talented people behind them.

mmm...  :)
