The Good News Week

My planets must be aligned; I have such good news to report.
Firstly, our website just sneaked into 2011 and finally opened!
Hooray! Such joy! Thought it would never happen and then BAM! Just like that here it is!

Also, this week we were very happy to process an order from Little Ray Workshop, in Beachport South Australia. Little Ray Workshop is the first independant retailer to embrace our product and stock our cards, so it’s a huge thanks to Rachel.

And last of all, this week I headed down to The Cancer Council NSW and set up shop over the lunch hour. It was a huge success. Our Christmas range of letterpress cards and gift tags are now virtually all sold out and we were also able to make a nice donation to The Cancer Council from our sales. Double happiness :))

These are huge mile stones for our little business, and they would not have been reached without the support and encouragement from family and friends. They are the first ones to buy my stuff, and motivate me when the clouds are grey, and for that I sincerely love you, and thank you - you have given me all I could ever want for Christmas.

More good news soon I hope :)

Letterpress Christmas Beetle cards & gift tags

Christmas is never quite Christmas to me without the buzz of some Christmas beetle that can't get off its back, the itch of a mozzie bite in some really annoying place like my toe, my skin peeling away from too much sun, singing cicadas, the smell of smouldering bush fires, sunny days with a radiant blue sky or my mum in the kitchen cooking up a storm with my aunties.

Our first line of Christmas cards & gift tags are a tribute to our wonderful Australian Christmases, that couldn't be any more different to the ones you hear about in all the Christmas carols. They are also inspired from my childhood Christmases spent up the North coast of NSW with my parents, sisters, aunties, uncles and cousins.

Anoplognathus Pallidicollis or The Australian Christmas Beetle card and gifts tags have been letterpress printed using a cylinder press, on luxurious handcrafted Italian cotton papers, using photo polymer plates and one hand mixed ink.

The cards measure 100x100mm (folded) and come with a Kraft brown envelope in a clear cello sleeve. The gift tags come in packs of six, with linen string in the top right hand corner and measure 50x85mm.

You can purchase them exclusively at The Little Paper House Press Online Store.

Buzzzz, its Christmas time :)

Ikea Press

Who needs to spend heaps of money on wood block type when you can use Ikea flat packed items!

Lorenzo Bravi has letterpress printed an alphabet, posters, postcards and prints using the pieces of a flat packed wooden Ikea train set as a substitute for traditional wood block type with excellent results.

This work is currently showcased in an exhibition called Ikea Press until 8th Dec 2011, Milan.

Such clever people on our planet :)
